How does the Soy-Free Tofu have zero carb or zero fat?

The Soy Free Tofu was created and developed from years of research and is made using a proprietary process that allows us to extract only the protein content from Canadian sourced fava beans. Unlike traditional tofu made from soybeans, the Soy-Free Tofu contains no carbohydrates or fat, making it a great option for those looking to reduce their intake of these nutrients. Fava beans are a great source of protein, with even more protein content than soybeans, and our unique process allows us to harness this protein power while removing unwanted carbs and fat. Rest assured, we make sure our products are tested through a stringent process to make sure all information on our packaging is accurate.

Are your products organic?

While all our ingredients at Non GMO verified, and we always try to source organic, but the truth is, we would have to considerably raise our prices to use all-organic ingredients, and our goal is still to make our plant-based products accessible. We focus on sourcing local, fresh ingredients and only source from Non-GMO Verified farmers and suppliers so we ensure our products adhere to our strict standards.

THE CRUMBLES I BOUGHT LOOK DIFFERENT FROM WHAT I'VE HAD BEFORE. IS IT STILL SAFE TO EAT?

Recently, we made a slight processing change that makes the crumbles (Cauli Crumble, Lion's Mane Mushroom Crumble and Broccoli Boost) to look a little more tightly packed in it's vacuum-sealed pack, but not to worry, as it still retains the same texture and flavor its always had after heating. It may just take a bit more effort to break it apart. Rest assured, we've done our tests to make sure you get the same crumbles you've loved throughout the years. Do not hesitate to reach out to us for any questions or suggestions.

Why do you use fava beans?

We choose to use fava beans in our products for several reasons. Firstly, fava beans have a neutral flavor which makes it easy to incorporate into a variety of dishes without affecting the taste. Additionally, fava beans have a higher protein content than soybeans, which is essential for plant-based products to provide the necessary nutrients to consumers. We also source our fava beans from Canadian farmers, ensuring the highest quality of ingredients for our products. Fava beans are also more sustainable to produce than soy, which aligns with our commitment to being environmentally responsible. Lastly, fava beans are regenerative, meaning they have the ability to restore soil health and reduce carbon emissions. We believe that the fava bean is the next big thing in the food industry!

Cooking + Storage

Are your products frozen or refrigerated?

Our products are refrigerated, not frozen. However, some people may choose to freeze them for lengthened freshness. It's up to your personal preference!

Note: The Soy-Free Tofu, Smoked Soy-Free Tofu, and Baked Sriracha Fava Tofu is not recommended to be put in the freezer as it changes the texture of the product. It is all personal preference!

How long can they stay in the fridge once opened?

Once any vacuum-sealed package is opened, air and other molecules can impact the freshness of the product. We recommend putting the remainder product in a vacuum-sealed container and consuming it products as soon as possible after opening, ideally within 3 days, to ensure the best taste and texture. If you can't consume it all within that time frame, you can also freeze our products to extend its freshness.

How do I store and reheat leftovers?

To ensure food safety, it is recommended to store leftovers in airtight containers in the refrigerator within two hours of cooking. When reheating, make sure to use a food thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) to kill any harmful bacteria. Reheat leftovers in the oven, microwave, or stove, and stir occasionally to ensure even heating. Avoid leaving leftovers at room temperature for more than two hours.

What does it mean to be upcycled certified?

Being upcycled certified means that a food product meets certain standards set by the Upcycled Food Association (UFA) for reducing food waste and promoting sustainability. The UFA has established a certification program to promote the use of upcycled food ingredients and products, which are made from ingredients that would otherwise be discarded as waste. To receive the certification, products must meet specific criteria related to the amount of upcycled ingredients used, the environmental impact of the product, and other factors.
